It's a sad Christmas for us, Filipinos this year. Days before this festive season, our brothers and sisters in Cagayan De Oro and Iligan were devastated by Typhoon Sendong. As of yesterday, death toll reached almost a thousand already, more than 1,000 injured, 49 people remain missing, and about 10,000 families sharing little space on evacuation centers. There's scarcity in food, safe and clean water, clothes, medicines, blankets and clean toilets. Worse, because of the tremendous number of dead people, it's the first time that I heard of a shortage for coffins. Tsk.
Christmas is the time for sharing, giving, and loving. It's time to extend our love to these people because they need all the support, encouragement, and love during this darkest time of their life. Yesterday, we launched this BUYanihan Para Sa Cagayan/Iligan so I hope that whoever reads this blog and please take time to support our campaign to help these people. It's all in the spirit of Christmas.
Anyway, here's my pick for the day:
People making lists
Buying special gifts
It's a time to be kind
To one and all
It's that time of year
When good friends
Are dear
And you wish you
Could give more
Than just presents
From a store
Why don't you give love
On Christmas day
(On Christmas day)
Oh, even the man
Who has everything
Would be so happy
If you would bring
Him love
On Christmas day
(On Christmas day)
No greater gift
Is there than love
People you don't know
Smiling out hello
Everywhere there's an air
Of Christmas joy
It's that once a year
When the world's sincere
And you'd like
To find a way
To show the things
That words can't say
Why don't you give love
On Christmas day
(On Christmas day)
The man on the street
And the couple upstairs
All need to know
That there's one cares
Give love
On Christmas day
(Christmas day)
No greater gift
Is there than love
What the world
Needs is love
Yes, the world
Needs your love
Why don't you give love
Why don't you give love
On Christmas day
(On Christmas Day)
Oh, every little child
On Santa's knee
Has room for your love
Underneath his tree
Give love
On Christmas day
(Christmas day)
No greater gift
Is there than love
What the world
Needs is love
Yes, the world
Needs your love
Give love
Give love
On Christmas day
(Christmas day)
Our company has a campaign to give a kilo of food or water for CDO. I'm buying my share later. :)
ReplyDeleteIt's really nice that Filipinos are doing their part on reaching out to the victims.Super sad lang talaga ng Christmas for them but we'll be praying for them since that's the most that we could do for them. :)
