Twenty four years

To be honest, I thought I wouldn't reach my 24th birthday because of the 8.9 magnitude quake that hit Japan last friday. Haha!I mean, anything can happen in the next 24 or 36 or even 72 hours after that tragedy. Good thing and thank God that nothing bad happened to the Philippines. But still, my deepest sympathy to all the victims and their families.
My "special" day went well and ordinary. I slept at 2am after trying to finish and recording grades and woke up at past 8 in the morning. Birthday text messages greeted me while the people here in our house also made it a point to irritate me first before greeting me. Sweet right?!?

Finally, I watched Tangled and was surprised that Rapunzel is also celebrating her birthday that day haha. If she's amazed with the flying lanterns during her birthday, the pyromusical competition captured my interest!Hahaha I really told my mom to bring me there for my birthday and despite the heavy traffic that will await us there, she agreed. And my, my,my I was really ecstatic to see Australia and our very own fireworks display!It really made my day :)

And speaking of making my day special, I really want to thank all the people who made an effort to make this day a memorable one.

-my family of course especially my mom. haha I never thought that they prepared a little surprise for me during our dinner. Well, she asked the resto's staff to sing me a happy birthday song (complete with tanborine lol) and I was touched and ashamed both at the same time haha
- you you you!haha although you didn't greet me at exactly past 12 like you did last year, I am touched and kilig especially when you greeted me on my wall harhar. Too bad, I still need to see your effort in making my day special just like what I did during your special day!there's always a post-birthday celebration (good thing you cannot read this one haha!);
-my former officemates and classmates....thank you for still  (I'd like to assume they really did haha)remembering my special day (well, thank you FB for such birthday alerts);
-and lastly to my friends especially to Clara who made an effort to call me (although I didn't answer her call, sorry). To Shelly for a sweet collage pic of ours and of course, to my ever beloved pancakes Dez for dedicating an entry just for me. sweet sweet!thanks girls I really really love you mwah >.<

So, that's how I spent my birthday. Simple yet memorable. I'll try to post some pics in the following days.For now, just my sincerest gratitude to all those who made their presence felt not only during my birthday but when I need them.
Happy birthday to meeeeee ;p (photo credit here)

Positivity.Positivity.Positivity.

My two last entries were full of negative vibes due to the reasons I stated there. A while ago, I just remembered the very purpose why I decided to resurrect my blog: to create happy and positive entries so that when I reread it especially if I am down or frustrated with my life, there's something to remind me of life's goodness. I want to write about happy thoughts, fond memories, and even self-realizations but hatred and frustration especially with other people?Perhaps I'll consider pouring out my frustration but the feeling of anger or hate towards other people DO NOT and WILL NOT deserve a place in my humble blog.

I know that negative feelings will have a space in this blog, but I told myself that even if I can't avoid such thing, I'll see to it that entries that carry negative vibes are only limited to the happenings in my life only and do not include the people in the past that hurt or offended me, my family, and my friends. It's so highschool-ish to do that, don't you think? So what if people stepped at you, degraded you, or incurred too much pain on you in the past? It's time to let go of the hurt and pain. Or at least, simply move on and never look back again. Yes, don't look back and say, I loathe my former friends, I swear these people whom I thought were my friends, I despise these people who made my life miserable in the past, blah blah blah...time to move on and let go. Seriously speaking.

So from this day forward, I'll make this as my blog's official mantra! Hahaha well, let's see if I'll live with this.

By the way, apart from m y blog, I am more determined to practice this "positive mentality" in real life. Geesh, that would be hard for someone who considers herself as an 80% pessimist. Yeah, I really really need to entertain more good vibes than the bad. My outlook in life should always be I will be successful with every single endeavour or goal that I set;  I should not give up on the first failure; I will win my own battles in life.
Positivity. Positivity.Positivity. I need you.

Sleeping beauty wannabe

The worst thing in the world is to try sleep and not to.- F. Scott Fitzgerald

I love sleeping just like anybody else. I grab every chance to sleep-while waiting, traveling towards my destination (especially if it's a long-drive or even a 20-minute nap inside a jeepney on my way home), few hours after eating, and since I'm working on a graveyard shift, after finishing my work (okay, not true at all times hehe).

But falling asleep and sleep per se are two different issues for me.

I always have a hard time falling asleep. There are many times that lying in my bed for a couple of hours does not guarantee me a ride to dreamworld instantly nor an unlit room helps me to succumb to sleep. In fact, sleeping in an unlit room unleashes the chicken out of me as thoughts of monsters, ghosts, and other scary-looking creatures haunt me, thus forcing me to open the lights once more. I told my registered-nurse friends about this and they gladly gave me tips on how to fall asleep--- taking a warm bath, avoiding adrenaline rush activities, eating chocolates or drinking coffee few hours before bedtime, drinking warm milk, achieve a "specific bed time," and even rearranging my room to give me that "cozy" feeling. At times, their suggestions work, but more often than not, it doesn't.

The problem worsens by the time I started working on the graveyard shift.

Sleeping in the middle of the afternoon on the months of April up until now  is like having my own taste of inferno on earth! My room's ventilation is very poor and I would end up waking up every hour all sweaty (I don't have an airconditioning unit and the electric fan, in its full blast, is of no help). I get cranky since an additional problem occurred, so I decided to tell my mother about this dilemma. Upon consulting with their in-house nurse, she bought me this tiny pink pill. I don't know if it's really a sleeping pill or just an anti-depressant. Anyhow, the pill is effective. But I only take it when needed---like twice a month. I'm all good and feels refreshed after achieving a straight nine-hour sleep. Happiness, indeed.

can't sleep?you're not alone

But since I'm not allowed to take this pill everyday, I have to suffer all over again the curse of sleep deprivation, or at least, close to it. Like I said earlier, aside from falling asleep, it's also a struggle for me to achieve a straight and deep sleep since I always end up waking every hour or so---regardless of the weather. And so I begin to wonder why there are people who can easily fall asleep in five seconds in ANY, and I mean ANY, position while I cannot lose consciousness despite lying in a more comfortable  position.

And you know why I am ranting?

Almost two and a half hours of sleep.

And my head starts to feel heavy...dammit!
